The Ampersand, 36 Ways

Today I released a new freebie as part of my Lettering Toolkit: 36 Ampersands Practice Sheets. You can learn four dozen different styles of everyone’s favorite glyph. Print the pages for ink-on-paper practice, or use the Procreate file to learn on your iPad. From flourished to minimalist, there’s a style for every application.

➺ Download the free practice sheets by signing up for my newsletter, here.

The video below is a real-time demonstration of me writing them. You’ll see me use a variety of Procreate brushes to create different styles, and, if you’re a lettering beginner, watch the stroke patterns—where I start and where I lift my pen.

If you need some fresh calligraphy brushes for your toolkit, I made these practice sheets with the pointed pen and monoline brushes from my Ultimate Lettering & Calligraphy Procreate Kit. For a list of the specific brushes I used, download the sheets and check out page 2 of the packet.
