Kate & Deni

This was surely one of the most beautiful projects I’ve worked on to date—an invitation suite that was in the works for a full nine months. The design of the stationery suite was done by the bride herself, Kate Allen. I provided Kate with the digitized calligraphy files and she utilized them in such creative and beautiful ways.

Photographs can’t do this invitation suite justice. None can capture all the tiny details, let alone the experience of opening that outer envelope and pulling out each gorgeous item, one after another. Each double-thick letterpressed piece was double-sided and printed with navy ink, gold foil and small touches of coral. The three envelopes were lined with custom liners of coral, teal, navy and gold stripes, with a tiny xoxo foiled on each one.

A calligrapher, teacher, and author, Molly’s work spans both modern lettering and historical script. She writes about calligraphy and handwriting as creative disciplines—shaped by tools, technique, habit, and attention—and considers what it means to write by hand in a digital age. In addition to designing custom lettering for clients, she creates books, free resources, and online classes for people who want to develop their calligraphy and handwriting, whether as a creative outlet, a professional skill, or both.
